In early December of 2012, my family moved into Pleasant Hills mobile home park. About a year before we felt called to start a church among the people who live there.

The park is a lower to lower-middle income community. Many drive by not wanting anything to do with it. Over the years some churches have come into the park to conduct Vacation Bible Schools and other types of ministries but none stay.

In the time we have been in the park, we have spent lots of time getting to know people through block parties, Easter Egg hunts, car show, 4th of July picnic and a recent Vacation Bible School.

A couple of months ago a nearby church donated a 25 passenger people mover bus to us. What an answer to prayer that was. We were actually gonna buy one through a school bus auction and that very day, this bus was given to us! The vision for the bus was to be able to develop trust among the families by going on family trips. We had our first family trip in July to a nearby state park. Every single family member we took came to church the following Sunday.

For most who are unchurched, they have a bad feeling of some kind about church. So for us, developing relationships is very important. It has taken almost seven months for many to see that we are real and can be trusted. For others it may take longer and the fact that we live in the park shows that we are in it for the long haul.

The support we have received from our sponsor churches, the CBF, the Baptist General Convention of Texas and many others has been fantastic. We sincerely desire and covet your prayers.
