Conversation on the Theology of Vocation, featuring Story Photographers

Have you ever considered the theology of vocation?

The church often focuses on the theology of calling for clergy. In fact, we have created many systems to refine this call, including short-term vocational experiences, denominational learning cohorts, seminary, and so on.

But what about the rest of the church? What about the 99.9% of the body of Christ that are going to work today as RNs, IT managers, teachers, students, Uber drivers, cashiers, pharmaceutical sales persons, and stay-at-home parents?

We sat down with Ashley Stephenson, the owner of Story Photographers, to discuss her calling to the ministry of presence through her work. For a decade, Ashley and her team of photographers have been telling the story of families and individuals through the transparent art of photography.

“I have come to realize that anyone can photograph a wedding or portraits. But what we are trying to bring to the table are Fruits of the Spirit kind of behavior, because all people deserve to be treated with love, patience, decency, and respect,” said Ashley Stephenson of Story Photographers.

Following our conversation with Ashley, we sat down with Dr. Brian Foreman of Campbell University to give us some theological language around vocation.
