In a recent ABP blog post, Ircel Harrison challenged us to consider the language we are using to identify and invite people to be part of our churches. He closed the post with these words:
“Of course, if we could define “church” in a way that is closer to what it meant in the first two centuries of the Christian movement, new terms would not be necessary, but this would mean overcoming two millennia of institutional “baggage” that can sometimes be a burden rather than a blessing.”
In your efforts to share faith and to plant Christ-centered communities, what language are you using? Does it seem to make a difference in how people respond?
